I second the recommendation for ustream.tv

A week or so ago there was a 2 day conference at our university. I
didn't attend it physically because I had a couple of important meetings
and I wasn't that interested in most of the content. Then I found out
that someone had set up a video camera and was streaming some of the
presentations on ustream. I watched (mostly listened to) one that I was
interested in from my desk while working on some other things. I also
watched the one after as well. In that case, a woman was running a set
of powerpoint slides for six different presenters, all presenting from
their offices in various locations connecting in via a free video cat
and conferencing service called ooVoo. Ustream has a simultaneous online
chat feature and hooks into Twitter as well. At one point someone,
somewhere posted a question on twitter that was answered by the speaker
in Boston. I saw both the question and heard the answer from my desk at
Cornell.
