EVENT ANNOUNCEMENT

Los Angeles Chapter of the American Society for Information Science
and Technology (LACASIST) presents their 2009 Workshop

"Accessibility: Are You Reaching Everyone?"

This year's program focuses on the accessibility and usability of
products and services for persons with disabilities. Given the fine
line between accessibility and usability in today's realm of
information technology, these words are often intertwined.
Fundamentally, accessibility refers to ensuring that products and
services are "available" to every user. Even then, however, the mere
availability of an accessible technology does not necessarily ensure
its usability. Ultimately, when users with disabilities are unable to
use a product or service--deemed accessible or not--this becomes a
usability issue that should be addressed holistically and with the
proper tools.
