[Web4lib] Anyone using voip Wi-Fi phones in their libraries?

Greetings,

Our library monitors a telephone at the reference desk, and the librarian on duty carries the phone with them to other parts of our 4-floor library if he/she leaves the desk. A Panasonic Gigarange Extreme 2.4 GHz analog telephone has worked well for us for years but is wearing out and must be replaced. We considered but decided against a cell plan.

We have Wi-Fi access throughout the building. Does anyone have experience with either the Belkin or Netgear Wi-Fi phones that work with Skype? Is anyone aware of a device that will take an analog phone signal and extend it to an IP network? Are there other solutions out there?

Thank you,
