Technology Services Manager

The University of Oregon Libraries seeks a service-oriented technologist
for the newly-established position of Technology Services Manager, UO
Portland (http://pdx.uoregon.edu/). This is a unique opportunity to 
develop and lead an integrated technology support team in one of the 
nation’s most dynamic urban environments.

Description: The Technology Services Manager provides team leadership,
project management, and hands-on support of the UO Portland’s full range
of educational technologies, including university- and student-owned
computers; output devices and peripherals; classroom control and
presentation systems; and video capture, conferencing, and distribution
systems for distance education and outreach. Hires, trains, and
supervises permanent staff and student assistants. Provides training for
end users. Facilitates needs assessment and purchasing of equipment and
software, prepares technology-related project proposals and budget
requests, and designs and implements disaster recovery plans for the UO
Portland community. Reports to the Head, UO Portland Library and
Learning Commons. The successful candidate will support and enhance a
diverse learning and working environment.

Qualifications: Required:  BS or BA degree. In-depth knowledge and
hands-on technical support experience with current classroom and
presentation technologies, including video capture and multisite
videoconferencing. Experience providing technical support for Windows
and Mac OS computers, application software, and associated peripherals.
Excellent analytical, customer service, supervisory, and oral and
written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to handle multiple
tasks simultaneously and establish appropriate priorities, to work
productively on cross-departmental teams, to work independently, and to
collaborate effectively with faculty and staff at all levels and with
people of diverse backgrounds. Desired: Degree in computer science,
instructional technology, or related field; 4+ years experience in
technology support; experience with Web and database servers, experience
with networked management tools such as disk cloning, print management,
and application server software; experience with networked classroom
controls (Crestron/CresNet, Extron); experience supporting networks,
computers, and instructional technology in a university setting;
professional video production and/or engineering experience.
