[Web4lib] NISO Digital Preservation Forum – Early Bird Registration Rate Ends February 25

Early bird registration for the NISO forum, "Digital Preservation: 
Planning Today for Tomorrow's Resources," ends on February 25. Be sure 
to register by then to take advantage of the substantial discounts. NISO 
members are eligible for additional discounts. To receive the discounted 
hotel rate, you must make your reservation by February 22.

This one-day event will take place on March 14, 2008 at the Holiday Inn 
on the Hill in Washington, DC. The speakers and topics for the forum 
include:

-- A keynote  by Evan Owens, Chief Technology Officer for Portico, a 
not-for-profit service that provides a permanent archive of scholarly 
literature.

-- Lucy Nowell (National Science Foundation) on "NSF & DataNet: 
Sustainable Digital Data Preservation and Access Network Partners"

-- Tom Clareson (PALINET) on "Digital Preservation Trends and Resources 
from the Field"

-- Katherine Skinner (Emory University) on "The MetaArchive Cooperative: 
A Collaborative Approach to Distributed Digital Preservation"

-- Tom Garnett (Smithsonian Institution Libraries) on "The Biodiversity 
Heritage Library - Preserving Information Ecology"

-- Deborah Thomas and David Brunton (Library of Congress) on "Digital 
Preservation and the National Digital Newspaper Program"

-- Robert McDonald (San Diego Super Computing Center) on "The 
Chronopolis Digital Preservation Program" 

-- Adam Chesler (American Chemical Society) on "The CLOCKSS Initiative 
and Requirements for a Distributed Digital Preservation"
