[Web4lib] Re: Newbie question -- URL Redirection

Google—at least the Google servers I'm drawing from—has indexed the top page:
http://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en-us&q=http://sites.google.com/site/beadsociety&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8

It has not indexed lower pages, as far as I can see. But Google
indexing is purposefully unclear--they don't want any old spam site to
suddenly jump into Google. The best way to get indexed is to raise
your PageRank, by getting people—friends, blogs, other bead sites—to
link to you. PageRank also affects how deep Google will crawl, and how
often too.

Google will not index the a domain that just redirects. Ultimately,
you should get the site on your domain, if possible.

I registered the domain through godaddy.com, which had a really simple process to follow to set up the redirect and was very inexpensive, but I'm sure there are many other hosts that will do redirects inexpensively and easily.

I have submitted it several times to be indexed, and it has been ignored. I've tried using the beadsocietyfl.org URL as well as the real URL which is http://sites.google.com/site/beadsociety/. 2) Some people use browsers which are set to block redirects, and if they aren't web-savvy, they tend to think the site is broken. Nothing against AOL or its users, but most of the problems that I've heard about have been from people using AOL's built-in browser. People using AOL with a 3rd party browser such as IE or Firefox don't seem to have any problems. I haven't had a chance to thoroughly investigate this though.
