creative and client-oriented librarian to join a 
dynamic, collegial team working in a 
collaborative and supportive environment. As a 
member of our team of creative and energetic 
science librarians, the successful candidate will 
contribute to the continuing evolution of 
instruction and collection development activities 
in the physical sciences and/or engineering, and 
also participate in the development of new 
approaches to the provision of reference and 
outreach services for the physical and biological 
sciences and engineering. The campus is 
especially interested in candidates who can 
contribute to the diversity and excellence of the 
academic community through their service.

Position and Responsibilities: Under the 
direction of the Head of the S&E Library, the 
successful candidate is responsible for 
supporting the teaching and research information 
needs of UCSC students, faculty, and staff in 
science and engineering by:
• Being a partner in the on-going development of 
new models of reference services and also 
providing on-site scheduled reference service, 
including evening and weekend rotations;
• Participating in existing S&E Library 
instructional activities and helping develop an 
array of new learning resources and tools using 
evolving technologies;
• Serving as a subject selector in one or more 
physical science and/or engineering disciplines 
(such as chemistry, physics, 
astronomy/astrophysics, mathematics/statistics, 
computer engineering, technology & information 
management, and computer science). Subject 
selectors identify, evaluate and select 
information resources in all formats for their 
assigned disciplines as well as monitor 
appropriate library collection budgets;
• Creating and maintaining positive, effective, & 
collaborative working relationships with library 
colleagues, faculty, staff & students.
