So any predictions as to when we will see "Google Library" - one fee access to all Google's services, articles from Scholar, books from Book Search...etc... and of course doing citations and all will be seamless because Google will have a widget embedded in every search result to "save to google docs"... and then format the whole bibliography for you.

Maybe they'll buy Amazon in the future as well...?

Is it dark science fiction or ...?

  There's an item in today's NY Times that discusses the upcoming release of Amazon's "Kindle" e-book reader. There's also a mention of plans for Google to begin selling access to some materials via its Google Book Search Partners program (i.e., not the library program). Sounds like you could pay to get more than "snippets" online, with revenue apparently being shared with publishers:
