[Web4lib] Plone

Andrew,

I have been running Plone on an intranet. We don't have the latest version and haven't install extras. I like it.

I cannot compare it to Drupal from an end user's point of view. My limited experience with PHP/MySQL (very introductory) is that I would rather set that up in a LAMP environment, not Windows. Not sure if Drupal experts would caution anything similar for it.

Plone does fine in a Windows environment and could also run on Mac, Linux, etc.

As a next step, why don't you consider a list of requirements for your research website and see how each would meet those requirements?

Hi folks,

I've been given the task of evaluating Plone for a small-to-medium
size research website. Having never used it in production, (only
just playing around with a local demo) I'm not quite sure of its
capabilities.

Is there anyone out there who uses Plone and likes it? How does it
compare to Drupal? (the CMS that I do know). Any and all thoughts
would be appreciated!

Andrew
