Vibrant, award-winning public library seeks a dynamic, creative,
committed individual to serve as the editor of the JoCoHistory community
partnership Web site (www.jocohistory.org <http://www.jocohistory.org/>
) and as a contributing editor to the Johnson County Library's Web site
(www.jocolibrary.org <http://www.jocolibrary.org/> ).

The Johnson County Library enthusiastically serves the community of
Johnson County, Kansas, which is located in the southwestern quadrant of
the Kansas City metropolitan area. With exceptional public schools,
affordable housing, and an overall high quality of life, Johnson County
is the fastest growing county in the Kansas City metro, and is in the
top two percent of the most rapidly growing counties in the nation. In
2005 the Institute of Museum and Library Services presented Johnson
County Library with the National Award for Library Service, the nation's
highest honor for extraordinary public service by a library.

The Web Content Developer has primary responsibility for writing,
creating, repackaging, and managing locally relevant online content;
coordinating topic-based community partnerships; and analyzing library
and community information needs to plan for short and long-term site
development. As a member of the Web Content Team, the position reports
to the Web Content Manager and works with teammates, library colleagues,
patrons, and community partners to provide access to ideas, information,
experiences and materials that support and enrich people's lives.

Qualifications: Required: Master's in Library / Information Science from
an ALA-accredited school, Journalism, English, Communications,
Information Design, or related field and two year's experience of
technical or nonfiction writing, online publishing, and information
design required. One year experience in meeting facilitation and project
management required. Additional qualifications include outstanding
interpersonal, communication, organizational, and leadership skills. 

Preferred: Experience working with local history collections and
digitization projects; expertise in training, education, or library
instruction; knowledge of Web development; expertise in graphic design;
expertise in Adobe Photoshop and Acrobat, content management, social
networking software, and Web-based and XML applications such as RSS.
