[Web4lib] Arizona Dewey-less public library

I recently read something (http://www.libraryjournal.com/article/CA6448055.html) that indicates that this sort of thing traces its roots back to the Detroit Public Library in 1950. It was called "reader interest classification" back then. That experiment appears to have failed due to staff cuts.

Looks like interest started up again in the 1980s. There's an article from 1995 in Cataloging and Classification Quarterly that surveys the literature on "reader interest classification" beginning with 1980. Here's the abstract and citation info:
