Hi all,

Thinking off the cuff and wondering what other's experiences are.

I've noticed just by walking around our public computers, that a number of users are taking advantage of the Google docs services and was wondering if this was just here, or others were noticing it too. If use is actually going up, are any of you considering not purchasing MS Office (or equivalent) for your patron computers? Or, (gasp!) training patrons on it instead of Word or Excel?

I've also found myself going more to Google docs for a document I know I'm going to work on from various places instead of using my thumb drive. My thinking is that I'll get the basics down and then polish it in MS Word /Excel when I'm done - if it even needs to go that far. The interface is clean and the saving is pretty good; I can honestly say I dislike the number of times it opens a new window though.

Anyway, just musing on remote apps and how everything comes full circle, just on a grander scale.
