[Web4lib] Pdf to MSWord conversion software

[Erin Kinney]

A product related to Abbyy FineReader is Abbyy PDF Transformer, which converts PDFs to Word, Excel, HTML, RTF, TXT, and searchable PDF.  I've only used a few times, but it has certainly saved our bacon on occasion.

Good day
 
We are in the process of archiving our scholarly publications in our
digital research repository, also known as UPSpace
(https://www.up.ac.za/dspace/). Since most publishers require that
the publisher pdf version needs to be converted back to MSWord and some
formatting by the publisher removed, we are in need of a high quality
tool to convert pdf documents back to MSWord.
 
There are lots available, but I was wondering whether somebody out
there has already conducted an evaluation, and can recommend software
for this conversion, with minimal loss of formatting of the original
document (e.g. tables, graphics, charts)
