Intruction/Technology Coordination Librarian

Description: Northeastern State University invites applications for a 
full time 10-month instructional librarian position for the John Vaughan 
Library on the main campus in Tahlequah. This position prepares and 
teaches traditional and Internet based information literacy, and will 
coordinate the efforts of the staff positions responsible for the 
production of online library instruction modules.

The Technology Coordinator Librarian will be responsible for 
coordinating technical work performed by staff and student workers 
preparing library instruction materials and those developing, 
maintaining, and implementing hardware and software throughout the 
library. The Technology Coordinator Librarian will also act as a 
technical resource to librarians who provide instructional content for 
the disciplines. The special area of responsibility will be the 
development, maintenance, and coordination of library instruction 
tutorials for the library instruction content that has been identified 
as basic for all students and faculty. The twenty-three Flash modules 
that comprise the online LIBM 4611 class are currently the best 
description of the content. This position will also function as a 
liaison and coordinator of the basic library instruction modules across 
the curriculum at all three NSU campuses. As a faculty member, 
responsibilities include participation in departmental, university, and 
other professional activities both on and off campus. Work is performed 
under the direction of the Director of the Library. The position 
coordinates technical work performed by staff and student workers 
preparing instruction materials and acts as a technical resource to 
instruction librarians providing particular instruction for the disciplines.

Degree Requirements: Master’s in Library Science or equivalent required.

Experience: Experience in instructional design, educational technology, 
or related academic discipline, knowledge of Macromedia Flash, 
Blackboard, Web authoring (i.e. Dreamweaver) and graphic design (i.e. 
Photoshop, Illustrator) tools desired. Knowledge of learning theory and 
ability to apply instructional principles and theories to meet learning 
outcomes in online courses preferred. Knowledge of Content Management 
Software would be a plus.

Responsibilities: Examples of work performed include:

* Teach information literacy classes
* Teach LIBM 4611
* Edit and improve LIBM 4611 modules for fall semester
* Integrate exercises into modules that are tested using multiple choice 
questions
* Create outcome assessments
* Structure another test of the effectiveness of the instructional 
technology of CLIP
* Redo LIBM 4611 using Camtasia
* Continue creating student worker modules
* Continue creating department specific upper division and graduate modules
* Convert 4611 modules into upper division and graduate modules for 
transfer students
* Work with College Strategies course to use new 4611 modules and 
perhaps increase the number of modules
* Work to integrate 4611 modules into Comp 2
* Retrofit and brand CLIP modules for Ivy Tech mandatory 1 credit hour class
* Retrofit and brand CLIP modules for TCC comp 2 classes

Salary: Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience and 
qualifications.
