LIBRARY SERVICES TECHNICIAN

Georgetown University's Edmund a Walsh School of Foreign Service in 
Education City, Qatar (GUSFS-Q) will open in Fall 2005. We are seeking 
dynamic and enthusiastic candidates to join the GU's team in Doha.  The

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direction of the Head, Georgetown University, SFS-Qatar 
Library, the Library Services Technician provides both technical and 
operational support to the Director and the other staff of the library 
to ensure the delivery of efficient and effective services to the 
students, faculty and staff of the GUSFS-Q campus.   The Library 
Services Technician assists with the day-to-day operations in technical 
services, public services, collection development, and systems, and 
also   provides administrative support to the library staff.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree, and a minimum of 3 years, broad-based experience in 
an academic, research or similar library setting.  Must have knowledge 
of library operations including technical services, cataloging, public 
services, document delivery and instruction, and practical experience in 
at least one of those areas . Must be flexible and comfortable working 
in a dynamic team environment; Superior oral and written communication 
skills.Must be fluent in the use of technology including MS Office Suite 
and Internet search skills. Familiarity with library information systems 
and online catalogs desired, and experience providing software/hardware 
support and/or training desired.
Knowledge of some Arabic or other languages desired.
