That is a simple trick. Create an .ico file (you can find programs online
that will allow you to do this) and save it as favicon.ico. Then, upload it
to the root directory of your webserver. IE will recognize the file and
display the icon next to the URL in the location bar.

Subject: [WEB4LIB] How do you create that tiny icon in the address window in
IE?

Hello,

I've noticed more and more sites that bring up their own icon in the
address bar when I look at the page in Internet Explorer 5. Examples
include Google, Hotmail, and LibraryLand.

I can't figure out how they do it. I can't find the icon listed in the
page's html. Anyone know and care to share?

Much thanks,
Mita
