The idea that it must be RSS feeds or nothing is a false choice.  There
is a need to do both.  What percentage of internet users have RSS
readers installed or use browser based readers?  What percentage of
Internet users use e-mail?  Just because one wants to play with or use a
new technology does not mean the old one gets thrown out.  When I
suggested on this list that I wanted to use RSS feeds from a library
blog via the script RSS2HTML to put them into dynamic webpages, several
people suggested that it was wrong to do that.  What I am suggesting is
that we need to use all channels of getting information to people.  All
are equally relevant.  Let the user pick.  We can create services for
the cutting edge user without getting rid of services for the less
adventuresome.
