Hello:

I will be doing a presentation and panel on Accessibility Standards (sec.
508) and Law Library Websites at the Center for Computer Assisted Legal
Instruction Annual Conference in June. This is a followup to a session on
accessibility standards and law school websites I did in 2003. I am
interested in hearing from any library that has considered the requirements
of sec 508 when redesigning their website. I am particularly interested in
situations where you decided not to implement sec 508 or where you found it
very difficult to do so. I'd also appreciate references to library
websites that pass the W3 html/xhtml validation suite at
http://validator.w3.org/ My primary focus is on the library homepage.

Information on the sec 508 requirements are found at
http://www.section508.gov/ Several states have made these requirements or
modified versions of them applicable to educational institutions, see,
http://www.section508.gov/index.cfm?FuseAction=Content&ID=82 and
http://www.tecaccess.net/content/legislation/accessstates.shtml

Thanks,
