spyware & adware

We're a large public library looking at implementing some kind of
system-wide spyware/adware prevention program.  Would anyone be willing to
share your experiences with this type of thing?  Does anyone use Spybot,
Ad-aware, or a combination for staff & public PCs?  Is there a better way of
handling this type of thing?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
