[WEB4LIB] weaning staff from email to weblog

Marc (and the list),

good point, but we're wanting to use to "park" particular discussions and
policies as a way of making these discussions easier to archive, etc. I love
blogs but I can understand how other folks might not want to have yet
another way to communicate....so I guess what I'm looking for are ways to
make the blog as equally appealing an option as email, especially since it's
going to be geared towards particular discussion topics. I did work with a
weblog as a library student but we found that the other librarians were
uninterested in using the blog at first. I guess what I'm wondering is what
makes the difference, for those of you who have introduced weblogs on an
intranet, between a weblog that no one is interested in using and one that
people enjoy contributing to/ reading.

Thanks again for your insights,

Shelley

Shelley,

Ummm... does it need to be an either-or choice? Why not leave it to
them to decide to use the tool that works best for them and their needs.
These needs and their choices may vary with individual, time and context.

cheers,

- mt
