NETWORK MANAGER for the Capital Area District Library located in Lansing,
Michigan -- close to the State Capitol and next door to Michigan State
University.   Lansing is a city that is rich in cultural activities with
little traffic.  Located in the heart of the Great Lakes, the area provides
many opportunities for camping, hiking, fishing, and other outdoor sports.  

The position requires two years of computer and wide area network
experience and either a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or an ALA
accredited Masters of Library Science Degree.  Experience with library
automation including multifunction turnkey systems and other forms of
library technology is preferred.

The Network Manager is responsible for the operation of a wide area network
that delivers library services to patrons at branch libraries and at home.
 Responsibilities include:  Operating and managing the system firewall and
various servers such as the accounting server, domain name server, remote
access server, e-mail server, and web server.  Directing the installation
and maintenance of all computer/network hardware and software.  Supervising
computer technicians.   The Network Manager serves as a member of the
Library's Management Team.

40 hours/week including evening and weekend hours as necessary.  Salary:
$60,000 - $75,000, excellent benefits.
