North Harris College is a comprehensive community college serving over
11,200 students.  The campus is located in the north Houston area, near the
George Bush Intercontinental Airport. The beautifully landscaped suburban
campus is tucked among 200 acres of forest and clearings.  North Harris
College is the largest college in the North Harris Montgomery Community
College System and it is the third largest community college system in
Texas. 
 
The new 40,000 square foot library contains approximately 70,000 books,
9,000 non-print items and an extensive collection of electronic resources.
The Library is also a Federal Depository Library with a collection of over
100,000 documents in all formats.  The Library has two electronic classrooms
and offers a well-developed instruction program in addition to other "state
of the art" library services.  The Library is the largest library in the
north Houston area and serves students as well as community members.  The

Job Title:  	Reference/Government Documents Librarian
Location:  	North Harris College
 Salary:     	$46,456-$57,085--Salaryiscommensurate with educational
qualifications and experience. 
                           This is a full-time, 12-month non-tenure, faculty
rank position.
Responsibilities:
	*	Direct and manage the activities of the Federal Depository
Collection, including planning, evaluating and marketing the collection and
services according to Federal Depository Library Program guidelines 
	*	Share development of library Web pages and maintenance of
the Federal and State Government Web pages 
	*	Participate in all areas of Reference service, including
reference desk assistance, information literacy instruction, creation of
instructional materials, collection development and liaison duties to an
academic department 
	*	Serve as a resource specialist for traditional and
electronic federal and state publications 
	*	Maintain professional standards of competence through
professional development activities 
	*	Serve on college, district, regional and related
professional committees
 Qualifications:
Required:
	*	ALA accredited Masters Degree in Library Science 
	*	Demonstrated supervisory and leadership skills, including
initiative, creativity, and problem solving abilities 
	*	Ability to work independently and as a team member in a
multicultural environment 
	*	Demonstrated commitment to customer service, including
evidence of a user-centered perspective 
	*	Strong organizational and communication skills and ability
to work effectively with students, faculty and staff 
	*	Demonstrated experience with Web page creation 
	*	Knowledge of traditional and electronic information sources 
	*	Familiarity with integration of technology and library
services
Preferred:
	*	Experience working with government documents 
	*	Reference experience in an academic library
