This is an easy one ---- 

People pay for this service - because the people selling it have convinced them that this is the best way to get the information.
Same reason people pay companies for credit reports and Social Security Benefit reports etc - that they could get free for the asking.

The harder question is --
Given our conviction that we have a better product -- 
How do we convince our customer base of this.
