The Orange County Public Library (OCPL) is seeking a dynamic
librarian/trainer to administer our internal Information Systems Training
Program 
The successful candidate must: 
Have extensive experience using personal computers, and be a power user,
particularly with Microsoft Office Suite (all applications) 
Have experience with automated Library Systems (Dynix is OCPL's current
system) to the extent that he/she can hit the ground running teaching others
how to use the system. Important: OCPL is in the process of migrating to a
new library automated system, and this position will play a key role in
educating all staff regarding the new system. 
Be customer service oriented 
Be an extremely effective communicator 
Have experience (preferably extensive) presenting stand-up training,
including developing materials, designing training, and arranging all
training logistics 
Understand the concepts of Adult Learning and how to effectively employ them

Be diplomatic and empathetic to the needs of software users/learners at all
levels 

OCPL's Information Systems Trainer will conduct periodic information systems
training needs assessments, develop a comprehensive training program, and
present all training programs

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS 
MUST POSSESS A MASTER'S DEGREE IN LIBRARY SCIENCE/LIBRARY AND INFORMATION
SCIENCE AND HAVE A MINIMUM OF FOUR YEARS EXPERIENCE PERFORMING PROFESSIONAL
LIBRARY WORK. CANDIDATES' BACKGROUND MUST DEMONSTRATE THE SKILLS, ABILITIES,
BACKGROUND AND APTITUDE DESCRIBED ABOVE. MAKE SURE THAT YOUR ONLINE

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 
Vision sufficient to read standard text and computer screens for extended
periods 
Hearing and speech sufficient to communicate clearly and effectively both in
person and over the phone 
Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and mouse
extensively 
Ability to drive, using a County or personal vehicle, both within and
outside of Orange County to attend meetings, training sessions, branch
visits, or other events as needed. 
Ability to stand for extended periods while providing training 
The working environment for this position is essentially an average office
setting or library branch setting. 
SELECTION PROCEDURE 
OCPL Human Resources will screen all applications to identify qualified
candidates. 
OCPL may also conduct an Application Rating (refer/non refer), during which
a panel of job knowledge experts will rate application materials based upon
qualifications most needed to perform the job. Based upon the needs of the
library, this step may be eliminated. 
The most qualified candidates will be placed on an eligible list 
All candidates will be notified in writing of their status at each step of
the recruitment.
