[WEB4LIB] e: testing web pages- a question

Per a browser cut off point... using the logs to determine what browsers
are accessing has already been broached. I think the real question is at
what technological point do you become BOFH and tell those users stuck
with Netscape 4.03 or MSIE 4.0 that you cannot support them.

I've personally drawn this line at Netscape 4.7x and MSIE 5.x. Opera,
Mozilla, and other derivatives all usually fall within or above this line
of compatibility, with only Netscape 4.7 being problematic (and the
performance of such being highly variable by platform). The only
exception would be if your logs proved that 50% of the hits to your site
are from Netscape 4.03 users. In which case you would alter your cut off
ppoint accordingly.

The highest "Netscape" usage I see if from Netscape 4.08... and that's
only because one member of my staff insists on using it instead of
anything else I've dared install for them :)
