The University Libraries of Notre Dame is recruiting a Senior Programmer
Analyst. This position will assist the University Libraries implement and
maintain digital library services and collections. Below is the formal
position announcement:


             Title: Senior Programmer Analyst
        Department: University Libraries
    Position level: 10 FLSA status: exempt
Position pay range: $3,302 - $5,393/month
        Job number: 2010-075

This position is responsible in helping the Libraries implement digital
services and collections by writing computer software and maintaining
computer hardware. Various duties include: conducting needs assessments,
designing applications, writing software and documentation, performing
usability tests, providing technical support and maintenance, facilitating
training, and working with groups of people inside and outside of the
Libraries. Candidate must attend and participate in staff meetings. Various
duties for administrating hardware and software infrastructure include
backing up and restoring data, as well as installing and configuring new
applications.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field required. A minimum
of three years experience programming while working in a collaborative
environment is essential. Candidate must be able to communicate efforts in
both written and oral form. The ability to write computer applications in
Perl or PHP, troubleshoot and resolve critical hardware/software problems
outside normal business hours, and write HTML at the version 3.2 level is
required. Candidate must also be able to draw an entity-relationship
diagram, normalize a relational database, and execute SQL queries.
Familiarity with the Unix/Linux operating system and with open source
software techniques is necessary. Candidate must be willing to become
familiar with the principles of librarianship and a scholarly community.
