Pentium-4s do indeed run hotter, and most newer PC chassis have multiple
fans (as many as 4, in some cases).

It's quite possible that cases haven't been reengineered for quieter
airflow. Given the state of the PC industry's profit margins, that may not
be too surprising...

And I'll admit that I'm probably wrong on RAM, particularly given low
contemporary prices.
