My reply may be WAY off base but I just want to add that some sites I use
are starting to disable printing from PDF. They want the customer to pay
for a booklet, rather than allow the person to print it off for free. See
for example,
this publication from the Univ. of Wisconsin Extension.
http://www1.uwex.edu/ces/pubs/pdf/B3485.PDF
See their explanation here:
"Printing Problems" http://www1.uwex.edu/ces/pubs/help.cfm

Some publications on this site ARE free and then the PDF works.

[Personally, I can't see why the extension office wants to go through the
whole process of taking in orders and mailing them out for a booklet that
costs $1.80. It seems they would SAVE money by letting people print this
for free....]

Anyway, your problem may be completely different. It sounds like you might
be working with subscription based sites???? This is just a reminder that if
you ARE having PDF printing problem it might not be your fault at all!

Subject: [WEB4LIB] PDF Files that will not Print

Hi All,

Lately we have had more and more users unable to print certain .pdf
files from our online resources. The problem is sporadic, and does not
affect all .pdf files. We have tried printing the files in question to
other printers with no luck, these .pdf files are not unusually large,
and when we try a different .pdf file it has no trouble printing. We
have the latest driver on both our lab machines and laptops....I have
checked the adobe site for info, done some internet searches, I'm just
not sure how to procede with diagnosing and fixing this problem. Any
pearls of wisdom out there?

Thanks,
Giz
