Instructional Services/Reference Librarian
The University of Texas-Pan American (UTPA) Library

Responsibilities: Include developing and presenting to individuals and
classes information about the use of library resources in an automated
environment. Related duties include developing instructional materials,
including those for computer-assisted instruction utilized in a laboratory
environment. Reference desk responsibilities are a major component of the
position, with hours fluctuating, depending upon the instructional
schedule. Some evening/weekend hours are required, as well as collection
development responsibilities. 

Requirements: MLS degree from ALA-accredited institution: knowledge of
library use instruction and reference assistance procedures in an automated
library environment; ability to work a flexible schedule; interest in
working with a class and the general public. 

Preferred: Two or more years of library use instruction experience in a
classroom and/or laboratory setting located in an automated academic library. 

Position: permanent non-tenured administrative staff position. Reports to
Assistant Library Director for Research Services. Open until filled. Salary
$35,000, depending on qualifications.
