Not particularly.  They're keeping involved and informed, just like we

There is always a certain cachet involved with being on a board, etc.
They may get payment for board meetings, as is the case with corporate
boards, and perhaps travel to meetings.  If nothing else, it is resume
fodder.  NOTE: I don't consider any of these things intrinsically
evil, or intrinsically good.
