Forwarding the message below originally posted to
the NYLINE list. An excellent web site and book
by one of the most knowledgeable persons involved
with library technology today. Also well worth
checking out is another site by the same author:

I thought it would be appropriate to herald the publication of :

The KidsClick! Web Search Skills Guide with CD ROM
By Jerry Kuntz

This publication was recently release by Neal Schuman Publishers, Inc. For a
brief description of the book please go to the following URL:
http://www.neal-schuman.com/db/3/173.html.

Jerry is the Electronic Resources Consultant at the Ramapo Catskill Library
System and the creator and founder of KidsClick!
(http://sunsite.berkeley.edu/KidsClick!/). The web site was created and
launched in 1997-1998 with the support of a Library Services and Technology Act
(LSTA) grant. Jerry decided to create this search engine/web guide for
children in response to our dissatisfaction with the quality, scope,
functionality, size, and attention to maintenance of the handful of existing
databases for children.

KidsClick! has become a very popular site and has received excellent ratings
from a number of different agencies. The new publication "is designed to teach
information searching and evaluation skills to children 8-15 years old" based
on the experience of creating the web site.
