Highways 2001, Canada's premier learning experience about user-driven
Internet content.

"This year we've streamlined event programming along five specific tracks,"
says Vicki Casey, Director of Content for Information Highways.
"Participants interested in Knowledge Management, Government, Enterprise,
Web Publishing or Professional Power-User applications can attend all of
the events within a specific stream or cherry pick program sessions that
interest them across streams over the two days. Also, we're offering
opportunities for delegates to participate in cafes - small, interactive
discussion groups on topics that interest them."

Specifically, the five program streams include:

Knowledge Management At Work. Sponsored by Microsoft Canada, this stream
spotlights intellectual capital as a strategic asset that can create value
for users. Learn how to create an organizational culture that promotes
collaboration and knowledge transfer, where intellectual assets are
leveraged and shared through the support of technology-enabled initiatives.

Government Online: New Opportunities, New Partners. The Internet presents
both challenges and opportunities for all levels of government to transform
how their services are delivered to citizens. This stream addresses the
strategies for developing the best-of-breed services through
multi-department, multi-government partnerships.

Enterprise Knowledge ROI. How can organizations that deliver knowledge
resources and tools to the desktop begin to realize a return on their
substantial investments in technology? This stream identifies a combination
of approaches and technologies that make sense to users, motivating
employees to work smarter by fully integrating the resources available at
the desktop into their work.

Internet Content Publishing and Distribution. For those concerned with the
creation, design and delivery of content for e-knowledge and e-business
applications, this stream looks at current models for personalized content
delivery on the Web and creating usable content for wireless devices.

Power User Communities. Competitive intelligence professionals, market
analysts, legal professionals, communications/PR professionals, information
professionals and other power consumers of e-content will learn about
technologies that promise to make results more complete and relevant,
integrating invisible Web content with public sites as well as text with
multimedia resources.
