Library Specialist: Digital Collections; Public Services
DeWitt Wallace Library, Macalester College, St. Paul, MN


The DeWitt Wallace Library seeks a highly motivated, Web enthusiast, who 
also enjoys providing attentive, personal service in a traditional academic 
service-oriented environment.  We are seeking someone who enjoys 
challenges, embraces change, and has a high level of energy and 
enthusiasm.  A good sense of humor and the ability to work well in a team 
environment are essential. We are seeking someone that not only can handle 
a wide range of job responsibilities, but also has good interpersonal and 
communication skills to effectively work with students, staff, and 
faculty.  We are seeking someone who can not only compose web pages, but 
also can  teach others how to do so, and enjoys teaching.
Responsibilities include: assisting with the management of digital content 
for the library web site, collaborating for the ongoing development of 
digital initiatives including digital reference service, and providing 
assistance and support for the campus Web Coordinator; staffing the 
reference desk including evening/weekend hours and providing instruction 
for library course-related sessions. The Library Specialist will work 
closely with the Collection Management Team and the Library Director in 
managing and reviewing licenses related to electronic products and 
services. The person in this position will serve as a member of the library 
Web Working Group and participate in a collaborative environment for the 
ongoing development, management, and improvement of the library web site 
and webbased services.
