> POSITION:
> Cataloging/Web Librarian at California State University, Fullerton.
> Library Faculty Appointment. Full-time tenure-track position.  
> 
>  DUTIES:
> Serve as co-coordinator of Cataloging section, responsible for
> coordinating authority control activities including creation and
> maintenance of authority records, development of policies and procedures,
> resolution of post-cataloging problems and conflicts. Maintain parameters
> for OPAC cataloging module, serving as a contact person to the local
> system vendor. Create original cataloging and complex copy cataloging MARC
> records for serials, electronic resources and other formats as needed.
> Assist with the coordination of current cataloging policies, in accordance
> with developing national standards and shifting local needs. Supports the
> Library Web Site Coordinator and assists with web content development. Is
> responsible for the expansion and maintenance of the electronic journals
> section of the Library Web site. May assist colleagues in the development
> of instructional Web presentations. Promote use of appropriate
> technologies, concepts and practices to support the organization of and
> access to electronic information, including the use of metadata. Assist
> with the implementation of the CSU Web-based Union Catalog (Pharos)
> assuring compatibility with the local catalog and Web site. Serve as a
> member of the Cataloging Policy Team. Serve on department, library and
> university committees. Opportunity to participate in the library

> REQUIREMENTS:
> Master's degree in library and/or information science from an ALA-
> accredited institution or equivalent, including completion of coursework
> in cataloging. Knowledge of AACRII, LC Classification and Subject
> Headings, USMARC formats, and evolving metadata standards. Knowledge of
> automated library systems and OCLC. Knowledge of HTML and at least one Web
> authoring application, such as FrontPage. Demonstrated ability to use
> cataloging skills to enhance user access to library materials. Ability to
> work with a broad range of subjects. Effective oral and written
> communication skills.  Ability and willingness to work in a team
> environment. Ability to interact effectively in a multi-cultural
> environment with co-workers, library users, and the wider campus
> community. Commitment to learn and use emerging technologies. Librarians
> at CSUF have faculty status and are expected to meet promotion and tenure
> requirements, including professional and scholarly activities.

> PREFERRED/DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
> One or more years of professional experience, within the last five years,
> cataloging serials, electronic, or other non-book resources, preferably in
> an academic library.  Preference given to applicants with demonstrated
> skill and experience in Web design and implementation, including mastery
> of HTML, Web scripting, Microsoft FrontPage and graphics preparation.
> Preference also given for experience with integrated library systems,
> especially Innovative Interfaces Inc. Second advanced degree desirable.
> Evidence of interest in professional development activities, including
> publication desirable.

>  SALARY:
> Appointment at the Senior Assistant Librarian rank.  Salary ranges from
> $46,488 to $51,036 commensurate with experience.
