Webmaster/Assistant Systems Librarian

This position reports to the Systems Librarian and coordinates design,
development and maintenance of Penfield Library's extensive and growing
Internet web site.  Working with other library staff, the Webmaster will
be responsible for coordinating continual updating and upgrading of web
site content; providing expertise and support for library staff
developing web-based instruction; and developing and implementing a
regular program to test use and effectiveness of the library's web
presence.  This position will  actively participate in planning,
development, and implementation of library automation, including
conversion from the DRA/MultiLIS integrated library system to the
ExLibris Aleph system (fall 2000/spring 2001). Following implementation,
support of ExLibris will be ongoing, along with technical support of the
Library's Ethernet network. Includes reference, library instruction,
collection development and participation in the night/ weekend reference
desk schedule.

Required qualifications:  MLS from an ALA accredited institution; the
ability to meet the college's requirements for promotion and tenure;
good working knowledge of HTML, graphic software and design; skill in
formatting information for ease of access, including ADA compliance;
experience in web site development and maintenance; teaching/training
experience; and knowledge of DOS/Windows. We seek candidates with
excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to work
collaboratively and effectively with colleagues and the general
faculty.  Candidates should have a strong commitment to responsive and
innovative service; the ability to balance varied responsibilities; and
work effectively in a demanding and rapidly changing technological
environment.  Preferred qualifications:  two years experience working
with computer applications and operating systems, including installation
and troubleshooting in a networked environment; basic knowledge of UNIX;
leadership ability and subject expertise in science, math, history
and/or communication studies. The position is a 12-month, tenure-track
position with faculty status at Assistant or Senior Assistant Rank.
Minimum salary $32,489, depending on qualifications.  Excellent
