Please pardon duplicate postings.

Greetings,

We are looking for beta testers for a form of secure telnet, in which the
password and body text can traverse the network in encrypted form. Beta
testers will need to have root access to their Unix systems, and make
changes to it. They will then receive a special version of Anzio, our telnet
client, to test with it, along with instructions.

The protocol in question is called "SRP", and has been developed at
Stanford. It is a variation on standard telnet that uses authentication and
encryption, based on the user's password. Once configured, it is virtually
inconspicuous to the user.

Setup needs to be done on the Unix server. This involves replacing a few
standard Unix programs, such as "login" and "passwd" with SRP versions. These
programs are available precompiled for some Unix platforms; for others, it
would be necessary to compile them with a C compiler, on the Unix machine on
which they will run. With these installed, you have the option as to whether
to require encryption. If not, standard telnet sessions will continue to work.

Also included in the Unix-side package is a telnet client with SRP. This can
be used in debug mode to verify that the server installation is working
properly.

For more information on the SRP protocol, see
   http://srp.stanford.edu/srp/

Subscribers to our beta program will receive a free demo version of AnzioWin,
with the new SRP logic compiled in. It will run in a debug mode, where it will
display a great deal of information during the login process. This will help
us analyze any problems.

For legal reasons, this beta program will be open only to those in the US and
Canada.

We would like to complete this beta process by September 1, and be able to
release a new version of Anzio at that time.

Anzio is a full-featured telnet client for Windows, with excellent passthrough
print support, kiosk mode, extensive multilingual capability, and
more. Information and (non-SRP) demos are available at the web site below.

If you are interested, please respond to me off-list.
