DIGITAL SERVICE ADMINISTRATOR

Professional information technology position available at Metropolitan New
York Library Council (METRO). Responsibilities include: coordinate
information technology projects among member libraries; interact with
technology vendors; administrate outsourcing projects and services;
troubleshoot and maintain of METRO's in-house Web-based applications, and
support members and headquarter staff in the use of a variety of computer
applications.  Assist in the planning and development of long- and
short-term information technology strategic plans.

Qualification: The successful candidate will stay current on METRO's program
activities and strategies, as well as on the trends and issues in
information technology as they relate to the library profession. Must have a
minimum of three years of related information technology experience,
including one year of direct experience in both hands-on technology support
and development.  Bachelors degree is required, a Masters degree is
preferred. Working knowledge of Web server and content design, library
automation systems, library technical standards (e.g. MARC, Z39.50, SGML,
XML), evolving metadata standards and digital library developments;
familiarity with content of academic electronic resources databases;
excellent oral and written communication skills.
