Microsoft Outlook and dots...

I'm sure some of you have noticed this, but I've yet to see an official
statement about it.

If you start a line of text in Outlook with a period, the line gets
repeated.


For example:
.this line has a period to start it
..this line has a period to start it


Does anyone know if Microsoft knows or cares?
