Many years ago, computers (and terminals) were much more susceptible to static
electricity. I heard repairmen talk about advising certain women, who had
particular problems with their terminals, to try not wearing panty hose; they
claimed it had improved the situation. There could be problems by the friction
between clothing and clothing, or clothing and chair, depending on the
materials involved. But I suppose working naked is not to be recommended for
most libraries :-)
