Web Designer
University of Maryland Libraries

The University of Maryland Libraries invites applications for a Web
Designer to provide an attractive and easily navigable interface to its
information rich and structurally complex Web site.  The Web Designer
provides primary expertise in matters of the site's "look and feel" and
the information architecture of the main information categories and
components. The Web Designer will function within a team environment
working in cooperation with the Web Services Manager and the Head of
Digital Library Operations, and provide design consultation and templates
for the numerous staff responsible for the site's content development and
maintenance.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree. Progressively responsible and relevant
work experience in the Web design field, including interface design. A
strong portfolio of work demonstrating a keen aesthetic sense and
excellent skills in organizing information. Familiarity with Web design
tools and the UNIX operating system environment. Excellent interpersonal
and communication skills. Strong service orientation and ability to work
in an environment that fosters learning, collaboration, and teamwork. An
insatiable appetite for learning and applying new technologies yet a firm
sense that usability takes precedence over "cool."

SALARY: Commensurate with qualifications and experience. Generous benefits
