Reference/Information Technology Librarian

RESPONSIBILITIES: Leads the Dewey Library faculty and staff in the use and 
support of new technology and desktop applications.  Investigates new 
developments in the application of technology to information services in 
the Dewey Library.  Provides reference and instructional services.  Working 
with the Dewey Library User Education Librarian, develops and conducts 
instructional sessions and workshops with a special emphasis on the use of 
technology for information literacy and management.  Collects and maintains 
statistics on the acquisition and use of electronic resources. Reference 
responsibilities regularly include scheduled nights and weekends.

QUALIFICATIONS: Required: Graduate degree in librarianship or information 
science from an ALA-credited program or a foreign equivalent.  Demonstrated 
knowledge of current technology and desktop application used for 
information retrieval and management.  Excellent written, oral, analytical 
and teaching skills.  Preferred: Education and/or library experience in one 
or more of social sciences.

SALARY: Commensurate with education and experience.  Salary minimum for 
Assistant Librarian, $33,000.

TERMS & BENEFITS:  This is a tenure track position.  Research, publications 
and service to the Libraries, University and profession are expected to 
satisfy criteria for continuing appointment and promotion.  Reports to the 
Assistant Director for the Dewey Graduate Library.

  Twelve month appointment; sick leave and annual leave @ 1.25 days each 
per month; health insurance, major medical or Health Maintenance 
Organization, Social Security coverage, TIAA/CREF or New York State 
Teachers' Retirements available (employee contribution rate=3%).
