Under Windows NT, the Office settings can be found in each user's profile at

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\8.0\Word\Options

Substitute Excel\Microsoft Excel or PowerPoint\Options for Word\Options as
appropriate.  If you set the Registry permissions to Read for those keys, your
preferred settings will return when the program is next opened.

N.B. This won't work for WordPerfect, at least in the old version 7 I have.  It
apparently wants to write to the Registry when opened, so freezing the keys
will cause it to fail.
