INFORMATION SERVICES LIBRARIAN
	

RANK:              		
Instructor.

RESPONSIBILITIES:  	
Provide reference desk service, including evenings and weekends,  assisting
and instructing users in obtaining information.  Provide library instruction
sessions.  Coordinate interlibrary loan service, supervising one staff
member. Oversee and curate special collections, including University
Archives and local history.  Assist in the development of the reference and
other collections. Other public service responsibilities as assigned.
Opportunities for a wide variety of reference activities in an electronic
environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:    	
An ALA-accredited master's degree.  Knowledge of electronic information
sources and retrieval.  Friendly, open manner with library users and ability
to work harmoniously with University faculty and cooperatively with other
Library departments and staff.  Effective interpersonal and communications
skills.  Versatility, flexibility, and initiative.  Well-rounded general
education and range of experiences.  Commitment to professional development
and professional service.

BENEFICIAL TO POSITION:
Professional, post-M.L.S. experience in reference, interlibrary loan,
instruction, and/or special collections in an academic library.  Familiarity
with OCLC, OCLC-ILL, and/or Clio software.

APPOINTMENT:       	
Position is open and is tenure track with faculty status and rank.
Appointment at rank of Instructor.  Librarians are expected to meet tenure
and promotion requirements of the Library faculty.   Conditions:  12 month
contract with 24 days annual leave, 12 paid holidays, and 12 sick days.
Salary is approximately $29,000.  Retirement is paid entirely by the State;
participation may be in state retirement system or TIAA.  State pays 80% of
a health insurance policy and all of a basic life insurance policy.

UNIVERSITY:        		
Austin Peay State University is a state supported institution within the
Tennessee Board of Regents System and has been designated the liberal arts
university of the system.  It has approximately 5,800 FTE students and 280
faculty.  It is in Clarksville, TN, population 98,000, located 45 miles
northwest of Nashville on Interstate 24.  APSU is an EEO/AA Employer.
