Announcing Avanti version 0.2.1:

Avanti version 0.2.1 has been released. For more information on this
project or to view/download the code visit the Avanti home page at:

    http://www.nslsilus.org/~schlumpf/avanti

Version 0.2.1 adds the ability to define "token descriptors" for token
objects in an abstract relationship modeling system (ARMS). Token
descriptors are used to link token objects in an ARMS database to things

in the outside world or as descriptive labels for token objects.

Work on Avanti will turn to the development of an abstraction layer - a
library system "kernel". This abstraction layer will provide an
interface to client programs or user interfaces - modules or programs
that speak MARC, Z39.50 or function as a GUI interface, or things that
perform the various functions of an integrated library system. As work
progresses on this "kernel" Avanti should gradually begin to resemble an

automated library system rather than a collection of low-level modules.

About Avanti: Avanti is an effort to develop an open source automated
library system that is scalable, platform independent and that is highly

adaptable to the to the needs of libraries of all types.
