Stacy and other Web4Lib-ers,

I concur with your assessment of the improved DejaNews, now called Deja.
Actually, the site changed overnight...I was caught off-guard during a
class I teach focusing on newsgroups. This despite a careful
review of my class examples two nights prior.

I had emailed Deja some time ago letting them know of my love for their
site, and my dismay at their increasing tabloidization (eg inflammatory
topics proposed for discussion), but you know how much good that did.

My biggest gripe, since griping I am, is that the site no longer seems to
allow access to newsgroups organized in their original hierarchies. At
least on the old "unimproved" site, you could access groups by portal AND
rec, sci, com, etc.

Same principle as when we (I at least) were kids: the improved cereal was
never as good as the old stuff!
