I don't understand this discussion. OK, Altavista is not up to it's
promisses but who does ?

What we are looking for is not many pages but the page(s) that fit our
query and expected result.

I dare anyone on this list to compare any index site (formerly known as
"search engine") and Google.

Lets have a set of keywords and the expected result and see what index
get us to the target with few clicks as possible.

I am willing to admit I am wrong... just give me a proof.
