Spinning a Child-Safe Web:
Selecting and Evaluating Web Sites for Kids

Description: If you work with children, help kids choose content and reading
level-appropriate websites to visit, assist homeschoolers or are in charge of the
children's part of your library's homepage, this enjoyable workshop is for you! The
presenter, Gail Junion-Metz, writes the monthly "Surf For" column in School Library
Journal, and has served as "contentmaster" of OPLIN's "OH! Kids" website. You'll tour
outstanding sites for kids and learn how to find reviews of "child safe sites", and how to
apply evaluation and verification techniques.

Who should attend: Children's librarians, school media specialists, library staff who
choose web sites for children and youth.

Prerequisite: Familiarity with using Netscape or other web browsers

Cost:
OHIONET and InfOhio Member cost: $60  (InfOhio members need to prepay)

Non-Members: $60 (prepayment required)
