MP3 and Books on Tape

Does anyone have any information on the possibility
of squeezing a 4 (or a 2) hour book-on-tape so that 
it fits on one of those 60 minute MP3 walkman type 
players?  

How much would a voice squeeze?  Could you carry
the equivalent of a 2 hour tape or a 4 hour tape
on a 1.44 meg floppy?

Any ideas on how to get a book-on-tape into a format
that would be squeezed (or is it called ripped) into
MP3?
