redesigned site

Hello,

Next week the UW-Madison Libraries are going to launch a
comprehensive redesign of our Web site. The new site uses a fair
amount of CSS and JavaScript, so debugging has been interesting, to
say the least. Still, we're tried to build in full backwards
compatibility for users of older or differently-abled browsers.

Even though we feel as though we've discovered every Netscape and IE
JavaScript or CSS bug (different ones in every release!), we're sure
there could be a few more lurking in there somewhere, and we'd like
to enlist your help in ferreting them out, or just in getting your
comments and opinions. The test site can be viewed at
http://www.library.wisc.edu:2784/ , but note that many of the links
(like the one to the catalog) are not functioning in this test
environment - they will when we go into production next week.

We are validating all of our pages as HTML 4.0 Transitional, and are
encountering only one validation error - ampersands in URLs for CGI
scripts which only recognize "&" as the argument delimiter (as
opposed to %26 or some other character). This is a long-standing
problem which is hard to deal with effectively.

Thanks,

PG
