Exciting position at the Kansas City Public Library. 

JOB TITLE:	Information Technology Librarian		
CLASSIFICATION:	Librarian III
REPORTS TO:	Information Technology Services Director

JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Director of Information Technology Services
(IT), assumes responsibility 
for overseeing the development, implementation and support of end-user
electronic services and 
resources for library staff and consortium members.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Functions:

1.	Oversees the development of internal/external web services, user
interfaces 
	and integration of remote and local databases. 
2.	Acts as Assistant Director in the absence of the Director.
3.	Assists the Director in planning for existing, new and expanded
library technology services.
4.	Supervises User Services staff.
5.	Serves as a liaison between Information Technology Services and
library and consortium staff. 
6.	Manages and organizes support requirements for library and
consortium staff, including the Helpdesk.
7.	Directs the development and implementation of advanced technology
training for library 
and consortium staff.
8.	Assists in overseeing the development and implementation of new
technology projects and services.
9.	Consults with prospective Kansas City Library Consortium members and
prepares service quotes. 
10.	Analyzes and evaluate usage of electronic services and make
recommendations.
11.	Works with library staff to incorporate technology activities to
their daily work roles
12.	Assists IT staff in Help Desk support for all computer hardware and
software.
13.	Maintains familiarity with basic  operations.
14.	Performs other related duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

1.	Must have the ability to work with multiple teams.
2.	Must have experience supervising employees.
3.	Must have experience working in a library public service
environment. 
4.	Must possess advanced technical ability in the development of web
services and working with emerging 
Internet technologies. 
5.	Essential knowledge of HTML, WWW browsers, web page design and
navigation layout, HTML editors. 
6.	Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of
professional library work.
7.	Experience in library-related collection development.
8.	Must be a leader with solid organizational, analytical and
interpersonal skills. 
9.	Knowledge of library automated systems (DRA preferred) and MARC
record formats.
10.	Excellent oral and written communication skills.	
11.	Demonstrated ability to interact successfully with all levels of
staff and public and work in a 
team oriented environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Requires: M.L.S. or similar degree from A.L.A. accredited Master's program 
plus experience in developing web services, supervising others, knowledge of
print 
and electronic resources; and experience in public service environment.
